KL University has entered into a collaboration involving Google Gemini Enterprise – Education licenses, marking another step toward expanding access to advanced artificial intelligence tools for students, faculty and researchers.
The collaboration was announced by B. Mallesu, who highlighted the potential of the initiative to support learning, experimentation, research and application development across the university ecosystem.
Under the collaboration, students and faculty will have access to Google Gemini Enterprise – Education capabilities that can be used for learning and practical work involving Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI (GenAI) and Agentic AI technologies. The initiative is expected to support a range of academic and technical activities, including project development, application building, coding, research and hands-on experimentation with emerging AI tools.
The partnership comes at a time when universities and higher education institutions are increasingly integrating AI into teaching, research and industry-oriented learning. Beyond conventional classroom instruction, access to enterprise-grade AI tools can provide students with opportunities to experiment with real-world applications and understand how AI is being incorporated into professional environments.
For faculty members and researchers, the collaboration can also support exploration of AI-assisted research, content development, coding and technology-led academic projects. IT administrators can use the ecosystem to facilitate the deployment and management of AI capabilities within the institutional environment.
The announcement also places emphasis on the broader concept of an AI-first university, where artificial intelligence becomes part of the learning, research and innovation infrastructure rather than remaining a standalone technology subject.
According to the announcement, the collaboration is being facilitated through a Google-authorized partner that works with more than 190 universities and engineering colleges across India. The initiative forms part of a wider focus on industry–academia collaboration, AI Centres of Excellence, AI laboratories and the development of campuses equipped to work with emerging technologies.
KL University’s association with the initiative reflects the growing importance of partnerships between higher education institutions and technology companies as universities seek to prepare students for an increasingly AI-driven employment landscape.
The collaboration is particularly relevant for engineering, technology, management and research communities, where familiarity with Generative AI and Agentic AI is becoming increasingly important. By combining academic learning with access to contemporary AI platforms, institutions can create opportunities for students to move from theoretical understanding toward practical experimentation and application development.
The development also highlights a broader transformation taking place across Indian higher education: universities are increasingly looking beyond traditional curriculum-based technology education and exploring institutional-level AI adoption.
With AI continuing to influence education, software development, research and industry, collaborations such as the KL University–Google initiative could contribute to the development of campuses where students, faculty and researchers can learn, build and experiment with AI technologies as part of their regular academic journey.
The announcement signals another step in the ongoing evolution of AI-enabled higher education in India, with industry collaboration playing an increasingly visible role in shaping the universities of the future.
